چکیده

Consensus is defined as a cooperative process in which a group of decision makers develops and agrees to support a decision in the best interest of the whole. It is a questioning process, more than an affirming process, in which the group members usually modify their choices until a high level of agreement within the group is achieved. Given the importance of forming an accepted decision by the entire group, the consensus has attained a great attention and it is a major goal in group decision making. In this study, we propose the concept of the information granularity as an important and useful asset supporting to reach consensus in group decision making. By using fuzzy preference relations to represent the opinions of the decision makers, we develop a concept of a granular fuzzy preference relation where each pairwise comparison is formed as a certain information granule (say, a interval, fuzzy set, rough set, and alike) instead of a single numeric value. As being more abstract, the granular format of the preference model offers the required flexibility to increase the level of agreement within the group using the fact that we select the most suitable numeric representative of the fuzzy ∗Corresponding author Email addresses: [email protected] (Francisco Javier Cabrerizo), [email protected] (Raquel Ureña), [email protected] (Witold Pedrycz), [email protected] (Enrique Herrera-Viedma) Preprint submitted to Fuzzy Sets and Systems October 15, 2013 *Manuscript Click here to view linked References

Multiple attribute group decision making with linguistic variables and complete unknown weight information

Interval type-2 fuzzy sets, each of which is characterized by the footprint of uncertainty, are a very useful means to depict the linguistic information in the process of decision making. In this article, we investigate the group decision making problems in which all the linguistic information provided by the decision makers is expressed as interval type-2 fuzzy decision matrices where each of ...

Decision complexity and consensus in Web-based spatial decision making: A case study of site selection problem using GIS and multicriteria analysis

Building consensus over the set of alternative solutions in a spatial decision making process promotes the sustainability, stability and longevity of spatial decisions. Web-based GIS–MCDA (Multicriteria Decision Analysis) facilitates consensus-building in the process of spatial decision making. The level of consensus among decision makers in the Web-based GIS–MCDA can be influenced by various d...

A novel three-stage distance-based consensus ranking method

In this study, we propose a three-stage weighted sum method for identifying the group ranks of alternatives. In the first stage, a rank matrix, similar to the cross-efficiency matrix, is obtained by computing the individual rank position of each alternative based on importance weights. In the second stage, a secondary goal is defined to limit the vector of weights since the vector of weights ob...
